Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions customers may have before requesting a print.

Do I need a 3D file?

No, you do not need a file, but having a 3D file is recommended. A ready-to-print file usually makes the process easier, faster, and more cost-effective.

Can you design something for me?

Yes, I can help design simple custom parts or alternative designs. I will need measurements, the purpose of the item, the color you want, and any pictures, sketches, or examples that can help explain the idea.

Can you print copyrighted characters?

No, I cannot print or sell copyrighted characters, logos, or protected designs unless you have permission or the correct license to use them. If needed, I may be able to help create an original alternative design.

How much does a print cost?

If you provide the 3D file, small prints usually range from $5–$15, medium prints usually range from $15–$40, and larger or custom prints can range from $40–$100+ depending on size, material, and print time.

What materials can you print with?

Available materials may include PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, PA, PC, and PVA, including carbon fiber and glass fiber reinforced variants depending on the project.

What information should I send for a quote?

Please send the file or idea, size, quantity, color, material preference, and what the item will be used for. Measurements are very helpful for custom parts.

File & Printing Rules

To keep everything fair and legal, please read these rules before requesting a print.

Files I Can Print

I can print files that you own, created yourself, or have permission to use.

  • Your own STL, 3MF, or OBJ files
  • Files with commercial-use permission
  • Files you purchased with the correct license
  • Original designs I create for you

Files I Cannot Sell

Some files online are marked for personal use only or non-commercial use.

  • No selling prints from personal-use-only files
  • No selling prints from non-commercial licenses
  • No copying another creator’s work without permission
  • No trademarked or copyrighted designs unless allowed

Customer-Owned Files

If you already bought or downloaded a file, you are responsible for making sure you have permission to print it. I can still help check the license before printing.

Alternative Designs

If a file cannot be printed for commercial use, I may be able to create a new, original alternative design inspired by your idea without copying the original model.

Important: Pricing is for the 3D printing service, material, machine time, setup, and finishing work. It does not include ownership of copyrighted files or designs unless the design was originally created for you.

About The Forge

Hello, my name is Felipe Sandoval, and I created The Forge 3D Studio to bring my own ideas and creations to life through 3D printing.

What started as a way to create my own designs has grown into something I want to share with others. My goal is to help people turn their ideas into real, useful, and creative objects.

I am currently enrolled at NIU, majoring in Electrical Engineering, and I enjoy combining creativity, technology, and problem-solving to make custom prints, tools, organizers, parts, figures, and more.
